Charity Ball

Was Gene

This was a fun challenge, it was interesting to have someone else choose my fabrics for me, as these are not usually the kind of fabrics I would combine myself...Great for making me think outside of my box.

I had some idea's before it arrived what direction I wanted to go with this holiday Kit Challenge. When I finally had it in my hands, that helped me to narrow down my idea's to 2, Finally decided on the Charity ball theme as it would allow me to use the crystals and necklace easier than my other idea.

How did you use the crystals?
3 crystals used on the tiara
2 crystals for the earrings
1 crystal used on her bracelet.

How did you use your rubber bands?
one is used in the updo for the Gene doll, 4 used in the hair of the small doll.

How did you use your pipe cleaners?
Combined with some fabric and made into Christmasie bows on 2 of the presents

Please tell us about your experience with the "Challenge Within The Challenge" (small doll) .
I thought the little doll was a great extra twist, and actually was perfect for the idea I already for toys under a Christmas tree. I dont usually work with kelly size dolls, so enjoyed the oppitunity to do so.

How did you use your short wires?
I created the star on top of my tree with these wires and then wrapped them with the embroidery thread.

How did you use the red satin?
The red satin was used for the main part of the Gene doll's dress and also for the small dolls dress.
It was also used for the curtains behind the Christmas tree.

How did you use the red sparkle fabric?
I used this to "wrap" the gifts under the tree, I thought it made very festive gift wrap.

How did you use the silver satin?
I used this to create the shoulder sash and the train on Gene's dress, the bows on the gifts and the little dolls panties and sash.

How did you use the silver sparkle fabric?
I used this to create my Christmas tree branches...I love a silver or white Christmas tree and this fabric was just perfect.

How did you use the white tulle circles?
I used this as gathered peticoats for my little doll.

How did you use the silver cord?
I used it to create ribbons and bows on some of my gifts under the tree.

How did you use your rinestones?
it became the top trim on Gene's gown.

How did you use the feathers?
I used the feathers as faux snow at the foot of the Christmas tree

How did you use the plastic rings?
I wrapped them in the embroidery thread and added the bells to make bow decorations for my tree

How did you use your embroidery thread?
I wrapped the plastic rings in the thread to create bows for the tree, I also wrapped the short wires with the threat for the star on top of the tree, and lastly I created the garland by finger crocheting a single strand for the tree.

How did you use your tatting thread?
I used the tattering threat to reroot my little doll, I think she looks so adorable with her new brighter and fun hair.

How did you use you small stuffed animal?
he is a gift under the tree

How did you use your small candy canes?
4 canes were added to the charity ball sign.
Gene wears 1 cane and her reindeer button as a lovely broach.

How did you use your silver bells?
they adorn the center of each bow on the Christmas tree

How did you use your pom poms?
these are large snow ball ornaments on the tree.

How did you use your button?
Gene wears 1 cane and her reindeer button as a lovely broach.

How did you use your beads?
3 beads are on the front of the little dolls dress as buttons.
the other 7 are on the star at the top of the tree for some added sparkle

Please list the extra items that you added.
foam core to create the diorama walls, gift boxes and the tree frame. I added the easel to hold the sign, and the card used for the sign.
I used a small amount of silver chain for her bracelet and the siver parts of the earings.

I also made use of the necklace that came with my kit to create her necklace and tiara.
